I’m Not Perfect—And That’s Okay
If you’ve ever looked at your overflowing laundry basket, late email replies, or messy kitchen counter and thought, I’ll never get it all together—you’re not alone. The truth is, none of us have it all perfectly managed (even if Instagram sometimes makes it look that way).
I’ve learned that real life isn’t about flawless routines or perfectly checked-off to-do lists. It’s about finding systems that help, trying ideas that fit your family, and letting go of the things that don’t. Some weeks my calendar runs like a dream. Other weeks, the wheels fall off and we’re eating takeout three nights in a row. Both can be true—and both are okay.
Here’s the philosophy I come back to:
Try, adapt, or skip. Every hack or routine you see here isn’t a rule—it’s an option. Test what works, tweak it for your life, and skip what doesn’t serve you.
Perfection isn’t the goal. Consistency is. A “mostly working” system is infinitely better than no system at all.
Learning is the win. Every attempt gives you insight into what your family needs, and that’s valuable, even if the idea doesn’t stick.
One of my favorite reminders is this:
“Done is better than perfect.” — Sheryl Sandberg
That’s exactly how I think about Chief of Mom Life. I’m here to learn alongside you—to share hacks, tools, and inspiration that make the busy a little lighter, without pretending there’s only one “right” way to do life.
So if today feels messy, know this: you’re still moving forward. And that’s more than enough.
✨ Here’s to progress, not perfection.
